I suspect Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity's issues come from the cel-shading style taken from Breath of the Wild, the complex environments, and probably some particle effects that are more heavy here. Warriors Orochi 4 seems to be the most unstable of the bunch, despite having a similar style to DW8.
And all of that using an art style similar to cutscenes found in Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates and Fire Emblem Heroes.ĭynasty Warriors 8 is similar to HW:DE in terms of performance, but the art style feels a bit weird (Xbox 360 levels of realistic style). The only times it may slow down is when using specials, which isn't much of a problem since you're not supposed to interact during the animation. However, for some reason, the game still renders at 1080p while in handheld, which is a waste of processing power since the screen is 720p, and the framerate is lowered as a result.įire Emblem Warriors has a setting for quality (1080p 30 FPS) or performance (720p 60 FPS) in TV mode. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition almost always hits 1080p at 60 FPS, although it doesn't have Age of Calamity's art style and mechanics. Here are some examples, only using the Switch versions:
