(I mostly treat outposts as disposable bonuses if they generate a resource or as extra beds if I need them to support my group, but mostly I just end up dropping and rebuilding them constantly as I head into new areas and need to clean out new buildings. I played through a couple of maps on regular difficulty, and they went even faster than normal, even without me taking much advantage of the upgradable outposts or the landmarks. When you claim it, you can choose different effects related to survivor health. I think it's the plateau map there's the hospital down in the southeast of the map.
And each map has a 'landmark outpost,' a building unique to that map, that lets you choose some aspect of gameplay. Each plague heart claims an area around it, filling it with that reddish haze and making it so you can't claim outposts in that area until you've taken out the heart.įurther, on outposts, some of them are upgradeable, so that you not only gain an extra amount of resources, but you can also train a skill there. So having your gun jam or run out of ammo isn't necessary the end.Īlso, there are now plague zones on the regular map. You now have two slots to carry firearms, one main and one sidearm.
